Big picture update on PMA

2015 Social Forum – Philly, Jackson, San Jose CA, possibility of satellites in MX and CAN

The SF is seen as a process not event – talked about yet organized in different way. Natl’ planning committee is recognizing PMAs and movement schools as principal outreach Leading up to 2015 and 2016, series of movement schools looking at issues we face in deeper way. 2015 - determining anchor sites 2016 - year of assembly or assemblies

PMA as mobilization, organizing and political education that can be deepened through movement schools, which take same concepts as PMAs but looked at issues in deeper way

Gulf South – Katrina 10th anniversary being organized for August 29 2015 in three different states in New Orleans. Working with many community groups to put this together

Philly Debrief

Anchor groups- Move to Amend, PPERHG, American Friends, Disability in Action

75 people at event. Less than 10 had ever been to one of social forums. 25 signed up for local organizing work. Intergenerational, multi-racial, multi-class. Some people from NY and DC – corridor is where most folks who will attend Philly will be coming from.

Critiques - big mistake to not have full facilitators meeting night before - didn’t give nearly enough time for report back to come up with coherent movement demands out of the process

Good basis for social forum process in Philly
