I'm a food-growing, justice-seeking, socialmedia-advising, activist originally from Seattle now in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY. I recently transitioned from six years with the American Friends Service Committee running a national economic justice program. My social forum and global movement involvement started in 1995 at the World Conference on Women. Here is a description of some of those activities.

  • Collaborated to organize numerous workshops on globalization, economic justice, and migration at the following social forums: US Social Forum, Atlanta, GA (2007); Africa Social Forum, Lusaka, Zambia (2004); World Social Forum, Porto Alegre, Brazil (2003).
  • Organized NGO side events and workshops on economic justice, globalization, gender and migration at the following global government meetings: G20, Pittsburgh, PA (2009); UN Conference on the Global Financial and Economic Crisis, New York, NY (2009); WTO Seventh Ministerial Meeting, Hong Kong (2005); WTO Sixth Ministerial Meeting, Cancún, MX (2003); UN Finance for Development, Monterrey, MX (2002); UN Istanbul+5, New York, NY (2001); UN Women 2000: Beijing+5, New York, NY (2000); WTO Fourth Ministerial Meeting, Seattle, WA (1999); UN Habitat II: Sustainable Development, Istanbul, Turkey (1996); and UN Fourth World Conference on Women, Beijing, China (1995).
  • Initiated local community involvement with global UN meetings through co-organizing the following well-attended community forums: US Network for Habitat II: Seattle City Summit (1996), BaseCamp Seattle: Preparing for Beijing (1995), and Bringing Beijing Home (1996).
