John Abbe and MarkDilley are co-organizing a process gathering as part of the USSF 2010 Open Space track, to network process activists together to support one another individually, and in our process-related work in the organizations/movements that we are working with. It is sponsored by the Co-Intelligence Institute and the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation.
By "process" we mean most obviously things like facilitation and meeting process, and how organizations are structured and relationships in them are nurtured, and so on. Some processes we're excited about at this scale include Open Space and wiki. Process is relevant at larger scales as well, relating to law, politics and economics, so we're interested (for example) in Restorative Circles, and the Metacurrency Project. We also see process extending down to interpersonal process, and even to process within individuals, including processes such as meditation and Nonviolent Communication.
What ties all of these things together are certain patterns that appear, often among the parts/wholes, at each scale. For example, you may not like some part of yourself, and try to deny it or push it away, but of course it tends to come back at you in some other, often even more unpleasant way. This can happen in groups of people or internationally as well. Conversely, genuine inclusion at all scales, while challenging, can bring great fruits.
