once and only once

Hi David, an agenda item for us is once and only once a wiki value - it would be great to get your take on it! Best, MarkDilley

Sidebar

Hey David, check out my AlternativeHomePage - what side bar items could go there? (it collapses when there is not a lot of info in the calendar and there is an information flow in the center. I like that you are thinking about it. My guess is that we will have to get consensus on what goes there, and what goes on the home page - I am hoping the AlternativeHomePage could help simplify information flow. Best, MarkDilley

All the graphics are downloadable

Dave, all the graphics are downloadable already. Not sure how to make it easier... will think about it. Also, you can sign your wiki additions with 3 ~~~ :-) Best, MarkDilley

can't folks right click and save-as?

The right click is not straight forward. I'm also looking for a direct download link so I can post them to the ussf2010.org website and have them be hosted here. I didn't see file hosting there on the main site yet. Sign them with 3>? Not sure I understand. Also not sure how to respond to your messages here. I think we're due for a training day!

there is unfortunately not a way to do one click downloads here that I know of.  :-( ~~ MarkDilley

Also, what did you mean by consensus on the navigation changes? Among what group- it's not clear. I understand this was meant to be open and the beauty being that we didn't have to wait on folks for edits to take shape. I'm having trouble understanding the navigation there and I'm receiving that vibe from others as well who are reluctant to use the space. To make my case for the group consensus: I think a new navigation with clear segments based on workspace, press-related and tech-related areas would offer some user-friendliness. The main 'Navigation' for example seems mixed now between large information repositories (working groups, NPC), tools (live chat), and tech/meta-related links (Site map, recent changes). If someone is coming in generally to the site to find something I think Search and the Workspaces need to be very clear and in well-structured navigational bars.-David

Hi David - would love to do a quick training with you, it is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. As far as wiki goes, you can change anything you like, technically, but socially, there are people already using the structure here - so we could float it by them to see what suggestions they have. First I would like to iron out what we would be suggesting, as you and I have two different ideas, although not far apart. Best, MarkDilley
