Etherpad is being swamped - so moving notes here, just in case:

OC question

Reg will be the main point person on OC. Scott will be alternate.

Jackie:

1. You sent me an email about Jen and the messaging group. Who heads up that group and is there a working group/list? Is this something I should be taking care of?

Messaging is a subgroup. Karlos will talk with Jen Soriano to lead it.

2. Matthew Cross (Political Science Professor at Macomb Community College, Warren, MI) would like to be part of the writer's group. Please include him on the list: crossm@macomb.edu. He is writing the first piece for the Michigan Citizen, due Saturday. He'll be highlighting PMA's.

Done!

3. Jackie, do you think one of the writers would be interested in pitching to The Examiner? Possibly becoming a correspondent for the USSF?

Adele will send out calls to Jackie as things come in. Jackie will group them and send out memos.

Scott:

1. Since you've been in touch with ICT, can you reach out to them again? We need a press room tab asap! So we can get Left Turn and other pieces up immediately. all press contacts as well as a rss feed of news stories. And also to alter/add a "contact us" for the press section.

Yes, I will talk to them this evening and ask about a press tab (will also send a ticket and post here for updates in the notes)

2. We also need to update the look of the front page. Those pictures only represent one aspect of the Forum. There are no pictures of youth gatherings, people working together in 2007 or performances. Does ICT handle that?

Yes, ICT handles this: also need photos of indigenous folks.

Karlos:

1. Karlos, can we reschedule our strategy call? I need tonight to sit with my thoughts and gather ideas and questions. How does Sunday night look for you?

2. What is Jen Soriano's role? Is she working on COMM? I don't want us to overlap. Is she part of the working group and should she be included on these emails? Who should be included on the core emails?

3. You mentioned Jen made the press list/plan and that we'll supplement it with a list pulled from our new clean database. Was that the plan you sent me? How can I access the database?

Reg:

1. Reg and Adele meeting on Saturday at 11:30am.

2. Can you please send Jackie the information/interview/additional notes you have on EMEAC?

Done!

3. We be thrilled if you were still open to being chair for the organizing committee. Is that possible? Scott has agreed to be the alternate.

Reg will be chair.

Everyone:

1. I conducted an interview with KUNM youth radio over the weekend. They had some amazing and powerful things to say. Do you know anyone who edits audio? I'd like get it up on the site quickly? They also sent me pictures.

2. Who else should be on core calls and emails. Key roles: Messaging, Tech, when necessary.

3. Is the press release still going out on the 20th? Where do we stand with it? Has everyone had a chance to look at it and comment? http://www.pitchengine.com/centerformediajustice/us-social-forum-organizing-website-live-/40609/

4. Let's discuss a speaker's bureau on our Thursday call. Does anyone have ideas for compelling, informed speakers? We should starting honing this list now, so there's a big pool to tap in to for press briefings at the Forum.

1. Genaro Lopez- Rendon: genaro@swunion.org 2. Adrienne Marre Brown 3. Cindy Weisner 4. Sarita Gupta 5. Michael Guerrero

5. Need to find a way to collect all press releases. Karlos will figure that out.

6. Karlos will put press list in excel form and put it on wiki.

Press:

1. Columbus Free Press and WCRS Columbus (affiliate of Pacifica) will be reporting regularly on USSF. I have a recorded conversation with them on Monday. They will run print and radio.

2. Awareness Blog (mainstream site) www.awearnessblog.com would like me to write a few posts in June about the conference. I agreed, but also asked if they would consider having a small introductory piece this month (since registration begins on the 20th) and a small piece each month leading up to the Forum, so people have a better understanding of what the Forum is about, who are the people involved and how they see themselves plugging in? I'm sure they'll agree.

Answer from Awareness: “I was thinking that maybe you could do an introductory post in, say, April, and then another post or two just prior to the event, and then maybe a post or two recapping how things went. Does that sound like it would work?”

Jackie, I wanted to put that on your radar.

5. Next steps for Left Turn magazine - youth

6. London Progressive Journal (Scott will write piece on Copenhagen) - maximum 2000 words.

1. Karen Ford, 3rd (Internal Organizing) Vice President, National Writers Union http://www.nwu.org and main staff for Third World Presshttp://www.thirdworldpressinc.com/index.php writes a faith column for The Examiner. I'd like to connect with her and ask her to consider writing a few pieces on faith and the US Social Forum. She will be at the Forum and has been asking to get involved. She should check out this story: http://wiki.ussf2010.org/wiki/Organizing_faith-_and_spirituality-based_networks_for_social_justice A writers network interview with Bill Wylie-Kellerman
