Writers network around 70 folks!

Pieces will be posted on the wiki--pull material if need.

Matthew on PMA--will come out in MI citizen, and interview with youth radio in ABQ.

Reg: Activating local COMM group in Detroit soon (Meeting on Tues, 9:30 at MWRO)

Outreach WG Retreat meeting in Detroit; coordinating with DLOC, anchors, etc. (from 1/24-1/26) Request that they e-mail the writer’s network about any updates they want us to send out.

Sylvia: what is the division of labor regarding outreach and communications wgs? Managing the messaging, FB, twitter, etc.

Reg: Fb not maintained by someone on the COMM group; it is maintained infrequently--need to keep it going, take a more active role in uploading matieral/managing that site

Ideas for creating many forms of media in the next five months (discussions and proposals)

Action Items, following Strategy Plan/Narrative - Adele, Sha, and B are working on this over the coming weeks

Sha came up with Narrative plan for the coming months; for WGs coordinating messaging. COMM WG heading up narrative committee. Committee that came out of Resources WG but with liasons from ICT and Outreach. Now COMM is leading this effort.

Registration Press release:

Registration press release going out on 27th--need to come up with plan to get out to networks. Need to get PRs translated; know of someone that can translate if Language Access is busy with registration. Jackie will put request in next writers memo for people to identify if they can help translate.

Charles: people's stories that urge folks to register; write quick, short messages, from the heart, about why they signed up.

Writer's network and COMM list will have press release on Sunday--can use messages for own press/media.

Division of labor within COMM group: yes, figuring out what folks interests and skills are but also listing what we know needs to be done and who can do what.

ICT/tech/site content (team to manage content)

COMM WG is responsible for website content. Need to coordinate work to manage content and make sure it is current and efficient, translated...We need to recruit some new volunteers to do this work. Call out to COMM WG list? Other ways to get more help? DAVID will assist with the web content [??]. And will help standardize links to social media...

Charles: mechanism for volunteering, pluging-in, etc. Adele: volunteers need tasks to quickly take and own.

Matthew: coordinate team to target "learn about detroit"; Sylvia: meet with DLOC and communications committee.

Work day Sunday: (9am PST, noon EST) Identify tasks make a list on etherpad; folks could develop content and pull from other resources; maybe work with Karlos and the pitch engine site

Wiki maintenance

Post updates on wiki--esp. events, news stories, etc.

Indentify Youth working group rep, Detroit Expanded Rep and the Program Design

Need representative for COMM with Youth Working Group; ask youth to join us? (David and Veronica may be on call)

Calls: Every other thursday; Feb 4th, 3pm Eastern (2/18, 3/4, 3/18, 4/1, 4/15) post this to the wiki

Charles: Would be great to distinguish precisely the division of labor between outreach and communications...Communications heading up messaging and narrative - and all will have input. (yay)
